About the Bands:
Hamilton Handshake is a high falutin’, noise pollutin’ rock ‘n roll band from Cleveland. The quartet–Ryan Matthews, Evan Phillips, Dave “Ziggy” Deitke and Kyle Thomas–don’t give a damn about making a good impression, but they know how to have a good time! While never losing sight of the goal of having fun, they slapped together a batch of sexy songs that became their EP, Busted & Bleeding. The band recorded at Obese Studios, which is housed in the waiting room of a defunct doctor’s office in North Ridgeville. ‘Busted & Bleeding’ proves to be a buttery batch of blues-infused rock ‘n roll. Their single “Strut” is dripping with sex appeal–from the guitar line that slinks into existence within the first few seconds, playfully mingling with drums and bass to the steady build around frontman Ryan Matthews’ bluesy howl. The four-piece has shared stages with Low Cut Connie, Stonefield, McKinley James, CW Stoneking, The Skulx, Cadaver Dogs and Christopher Wild.
A decade of camaraderie, a century of shared musical influence, a lifetime of commitment to their craft; with The Skulx what’s old is new again, and it’s better than fucking ever. Reuniting some of the finest raw musical talent Ohio has to offer, The Skulx comprises former band mates Alex Nauth, of Foxy Shazam, with Mathew Franklin and Lex Vegas of Cadaver Dogs, and a bevy of colleagues including members of Slash & The Conspirators, Bad Rabbits, Larry & His Flask, to create a dynamic collection of inspired anthems released in early 2016 on Mind Over Matter Records. Rounded out by Christian Roerig and Josh Pilot, The Skulx have toured the US multiple times and played festivals including SXSW in Austin, TX and CMJ in New York City in their short tenure, establishing them as a domineering force in the American modern rock scene. Having already caught the attention of a number of respected industry outlets with only a single LP to their name, their future looks limitless with the pending arrival of their sophomore record coming soon. Soaring, searing, soulful, surreal – The Skulx is. You ain’t.
